I encountered this pair of tattered formal shoes resting on the stairway of my office – an image you would expect to see outside a temple but in a corporate office it was quite striking. The tattered shoes near the 9th floor of the building told the story of a man who had toiled too much for too little and too long in climbing the corporate ladder. But hard work only got him to a point. Beyond that point, only faith or belief could carry him forward.
